Two Holland Marsh farmers have been awarded a “Friend of the Greenbelt Award.”

As part of Greenbelt 5th Anniversary celebrations five farmers received awards in recognition of their work to make a difference in the Greenbelt.  Alex Makarenko and Herman Gasko were awarded in recognition of their leadership to create the Holland Marsh Growers Association and to divert production from export markets to local markets.  Congratulations!  And thank you for those delicious greens grown close to home!

Mike Schreiner, Green Party of Ontario (GPO) has written an open letter to Minister Brad Duguid regarding the gas-fired generators proposed for Oakville and the Holland Marsh.   We are not endorsing the GPO; but, urge you to read the letter for a succinct review of the issues.      http://www.gpo.ca/node/2348
